i'd probably use my great wealth similarly (if i had any)

Tetra Pak at home
every day begins with coffee and a generous helping of 1/2 & 1/2.  this ritual wouldn't be nearly as convenient without the plastic coated paper carton seen here, originally created by Tetra Pak in 1951 in sweden by ruben rausing.  the company's revenue in 2008 was €8.8 billion.

one of rausing's heirs, granddaughter sigrid, owns aubrey house, an 18th-century manor house and gardens in the heart of london, decorated by chester jones.  i appreciate the use of her fortune here - rooms filled with fantastic antique textiles and carpets.  what a beautiful palette of warm reds and oranges, hazy blue walls and touches of black.

sigrid rausing, who holds a PhD in social anthropology, has donated hundreds of millions of dollars to human rights charities, bought and reinvigorated the literary magazine granta, and launched a new publishing house portobello books, among her many other philanthropic ventures.   that's my kind of billionaire.

but what strikes me most about her decor is that it doesn't
look like it required a multi-billion dollar fortune to create.  obviously her antiques and textiles are the finest and the house and land and location are available only to the super rich, but the aesthetic could be achieved with more modest means.  the warm and comfortable feeling of sigrid's rooms created by layering unique textiles, un-precious furniture, bold colors and architectural details is what i too am after in my own home (sans the inherited fortune).
