update: a reading nook

The library at the top of the steps is one of my favorite spaces in the house.  A small room is easy to decorate compared the entire open-plan downstairs, which I'm finding to be a challenge to pull together (thus the lack of photos of the main floor other than the kitchen).  So I come back to the library and add to it.  For a long while it looked like this and I was content.

But then I found this great graphic pagoda fabric at an awesome textile outlet in nearby Burlington and couldn't resist making curtain panels with it.

And why not reuse my diy drum shade which has been languishing in a closet since its Oak Park dining room glory days of yore?  It hangs with the same wire hardware over the top of the existing Ikea chandelier as it did in Oak Park, but this time I left the bottom of the shade open.

The two textile additions soften the space.  And add punches of personality and color.

Perfect spot to peruse my World of Interiors magazine collection...
